Working Anywhere with Marriott Bonvoy

Working Anywhere with Marriott Bonvoy

Working from home is getting monotonous.

That’s what a number of business travelers are telling us. The days often blend together, there’s no boundary between work and personal life – especially if you’re managing remote learning for your children – and sometimes you’re competing for insufficient Wi-Fi or just a quiet corner to work uninterrupted.

At Marriott International, we’re listening. We conducted a survey and found that 42 percent of more than 400 business professionals surveyed in the U.S. –  Marriott Bonvoy members and non-members –  would consider working from a hotel guest room to resolve these challenges.

Today, I’m delighted that Marriott has announced a new program available in select hotels --- Work Anywhere with Marriott Bonvoy – to offer our guests some relief. We co-created this program with input from consumers, corporate partners and hotel operators.

Day Pass, Stay Pass and Play Pass under Work Anywhere with Marriott Bonvoy give our guests flexibility, whether they’re seeking a one day stay from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (a Day Pass), an extended overnight stay from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. the following day (two full work days, one night – called a Stay Pass), or a multi-day “workcation” – a work and leisure getaway at destinations around the world, called the Play Pass.

We want to help businesspeople stay productive and achieve work/life balance by reimagining our hotel rooms as quiet, clean and disinfected workspaces with fast Wi-Fi, plenty of electrical outlets, healthy complimentary snacks and bottled water and more, plus added perks – where local regulations allow -- such as access to the gym and pool. And we have the scale to make the choice convenient. Nearly 2,000 of our properties are participating in the Stay Pass program and more than 140 hotels, so far, are piloting the Day Pass program in Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, New York, Toronto, London, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, with planned expansion in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

We don’t know when the pandemic will end and workplaces around the world will reopen. But we recognize that the definition of remote work is evolving.

We look forward to welcoming you as you check in, with your laptop.

Stephanie, so great to read this. Many hotels and restaurants struggle to fill their premises during the day and opening up to remote workers is one way to boost day-time trade. Tapping into the remote worker market will help boost many aspects of the overall Marriot offering. For starters, you will see an increase in footfall during quiet times of the day. Whether that be people booking into private rooms, or possibly using the communal ground floor space. Existing guests will benefit from a workspace offering too, especially the open communal work areas. People like to work alongside others. All wrapped up and this will encourage more businesses to use Marriot, bringing new people into your hotels who may not have visited otherwise. Another big advantage is that this strategy will boost bookings numbers for meeting rooms and function rooms. When these remote workers are with you, you're going to see an increase in sales of beverages, snacks and meals. Has Marriot considered offering a remote worker “lunchtime special”? We have been testing £15-£20 pre-paid bookings, which include a breakfast/lunch + bottomless hot drinks package and they look to be hugely popular. Lastly, if done right, you, Marriot will benefit enormously from word of mouth and social media recommendations. People love to share a good thing! Alexa, worth a read!

Great spin on the trending workcation concept. WFH can literally be done anywhere you have reliable WiFi, a savvy employer and agreeable clients. And self-motivation! A local business owner here in Charleston quickly discovered his top 4 producers actually produced more during their new WFH Covid policy. Pre-Covid he was looking for a bigger office space for his growing team. Now WFH is his company standard; not only generating greater employee satisfaction and increased revenue but saving on square footage costs.
